He attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA where he received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1972. He attended the University of New Haven where he earned a Masters of Business in 1974.

Michael worked in the Prestressed-Concrete business his entire career of 47 years. He worked at Blakeslee in CT; Prestressed Concrete, Florida Mining and Materials, Stresscon, Gate Prestressed Concrete, and Coreslab Structures all in FL. He also worked at Gate Precast in NC. Michael served on numerous committees from 1976 through 2019 and was President of the Florida Prestressed Concrete Association. Nationally he served on several committees from 1982 through 2018 and was Chairman of the Prestressed Concrete Institute.

Michael was a member of the Lakeland South Rotary. He loved working with children especially when he coached youth sports in soccer, basketball and baseball.

Michael possessed a tireless intellectual curiosity and was an avid reader. In addition, he was an enthusiastic and competitive golfer, loved to hike and bicycle. He loved his family, his friends and his collogues. A humble and patient man, Michael was also a hard worker, a generous provider, and brave in the face of all hardships and dangers. He believed that one should live their life to accomplish their goals and make your family proud. He was extremely loving, loyal and supportive of his family, both immediate and extended. He was an inspiration to many, and a hero to all he encountered. He was near and dear to so many hearts and will be deeply missed by all with whom he has touched. Michael may be gone from this earth, but he will FOREVER remain in our hearts.

Hearts with holes in them today include his loving, high school sweetheart, and caring wife, of over 47 years, Arlene Frances (Bognar) Quinlan who resides in Lakeland, FL, his son Darren Michael Quinlan of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Kelly Quinlan White (Clayton) of Bowling Green, KY and three grandsons, Ethan, Kane, and Chase, and a granddaughter, Macy whom he loved and cherished.
